EMPD seize drugs hidden under sweets in spaza shop

The community is now blowing the whistle on drug dealers

The EMPD’s Equestrian Unit members arrested an alleged drug dealer on February 11 who was masquerading as a spaza shop operator selling snacks next to the taxi rank near Atlas Mall, in Atlasville.

EMPD spokesperson chief superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said police officers received information about the man dealing dagga, before they swooped in on his shop.

“They raided the spaza shop and found packets of dagga hidden under the displayed sweets, snacks and loose cigarettes, and recovering 219mg of dagga,” said Kgasago.

The 50-year-old suspect was arrested and detained at Boksburg North Police Station on charges of possession of and dealing in dagga.
