No need to pay for your claimed goods

'Fake' cops are conning people into paying for their stolen items

There is no money involved to receive one’s recovered property.

According to communications officer Capt Juanita Coetzer of Boksburg North SAPS, if you have been the victim of any crime during which your property was stolen, your investigating officer is the only person who will communicate with you.

“If your vehicle was stolen and has been recovered by the police, you do not need to pay anything to reclaim your vehicle,” Coetzer said.

She highlighted that incidents have occurred where complainants were contacted by people posing as police officers who insisted on cash being paid immediately into an account before they will release the vehicle or property.

The Boksburg North SAPS is urging the public to contact the investigating officer who is handling their case should they receive such phone calls.
