It seems taking public transport is dangerous in a number of ways

Two commuters, who were inside a minibus taxi, were shot during an alleged accidental discharge from a handgun.

According to Nick Dollman, Netcare media liaison inland, Netcare 911 responded to reports of a shooting at the East Rand Mall Taxi Rank at approximately 7pm on Monday evening, February 5.

“Paramedics from Netcare 911 and the Provincial Ambulance Service attended to two patients at the scene: a man who was approximately thirty years old had been shot  in the leg and a thirty three year old female had sustained a less serious wound to her abdomen.

“The patients were stabilised at the scene before being transported by ambulances to different hospitals in the area for further assessment and care.

“The incident and preceding events are being investigated by the SAPS who were at the scene,” said Dollman.
