St Dominic’s achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in the 2017 IEB matric exams. Headmaster Roger Loring said the school has a proud tradition of more than three decades in succession with a 100 per cent matric pass rate.
A total of 78 learners wrote the exams, achieving 94 distinctions and 184 ‘B’ symbols between them. All but one learner (98.7 per cent) received a bachelor’s degree (university entrance) pass.

Four distinctions: Ungiphile Mhlongo (accounting, isiZulu, maths and physical sciences).
Seven distinctions: Samantha Johnson (accounting, Afrikaans, English, geography, life orientation, maths and physical sciences).
