Fund-raiser is music to Boksburg SPCA’s ears

Musicians Charl Barnard and Johny Meyer hosted a performance in aid of the Boksburg SPCA on Sunday, October 29.

About R600 was raised during the fund-raiser which was held at The Brazen Head in Parkrand.

Donations of dog and cat food were collected as were donations of clothing, which will be sold at the SPCA’s ‘Second Chance’ charity shop.

Barnard and other musicians also hosted a charity event last year and raised over R1 000 for the SPCA.

“Our love for animals prompts us, every year, to donate to the SPCA as they are doing a lovely job of keeping animals safe and healthy,” Barnard said.

“We thank everyone who came out to support us. I would like to thank my wife, Morna, who worked very hard to make this event a success.”

Jeni Dawes, SPCA vice-chairperson, said: “We are a voice for those who don’t have one and thanks to people like Charl and Johny and their team, we are able to give hope to abandoned animals.
