Gamers to gather for first Boksburg LAN party
Gaming enthusiasts are in for a treat as the first Boksburg LAN (Local Area Network) party is set for early next month.

The event administrator, Anthony-Jason Warren, said the goal is to bring gaming out of bedrooms and home offices into public venues with local meet-ups, events and even possibly leagues.
He said that with the advancement of broadband, gamers are able to compete at home just as easily and reliably as they would at a large LAN event. However, the personal interaction before and after the games is lost if the gamers stay at home.
“The Boksburg LAN is the start of what we hope to be a great beginning to e-sport in the local community.

“In Boksburg, there are many gamers who sit at home and play games online, some of them extremely talented.
“Most, however, do not attend LAN’s or e-sport events because they don’t know anything about them. Through a series of community events and locally sponsored tournaments, we aim to bring the social aspect back into the new landscape of gaming,” Anthony-Jason said.
The LAN event runs from November 3 at 5pm to November 4 at 5pm, at the Boksburg Baptist Church hall, 63 Market Street.
Tickets are R100 for participants (bring your own computer/console) and R50 for spectators.
