Taking to the streets for the 23rd Walk for Jesus

Approximately 500 people from different churches walked in sunny weather to spread messages of hope to motorists and pedestrians during the Walk for Jesus event.

The annual walk started in 2010 and on October 1, this year, they walked for the 23rd time.

With the assistance of the EMPD, the crowd walked from Laerskool Concordia to the East Rand Mall and back.

Participants handed out mini Bibles and balloons with messages of hope to pedestrians and motorists during the proceedings.

Marinda Curtin and Pastor Gert Curtin – with Petrus Curtin perched on his shoulders – also participated in the walk.

During the walk participants also prayed for the country and schools.

Ronel Mocke, organiser of the walk, said: “We had a peaceful walk and the response from the public was very positive. We don’t discriminate against people – we allow anyone to join.”

The next Walk for Jesus will be held on March 4 at noon, from Laerskool Concordia.
