Symposium to chart roadmap for university in Ekurhuleni
A delegation of experts will join heads in charting a roadmap for the establishment of a higher education institution in Ekurhuleni during a university symposium to be held on September 21, at the Lakes Conference Centre, in Benoni.

The symposium will draw close to 350 delegates from various sectors.
This comes after Ekurhuleni mayor, Clr Mzwandile Masina, recently announced the need to establish a university in “Africa’s manufacturing capital”.

“Ekurhuleni houses the busiest airport and is an aviation and manufacturing capital in Africa. The university symposium is a stepping stone to starting the journey towards building an institution that will ensure the metro develops engineers, innovators and specialists in the fields of aviation, logistics and manufacturing who will actively drive its economy,” said metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe.
It is envisioned that the establishment of a university will alleviate over-crowding at technical and vocational education and training colleges, as well as lessen the challenge of accessibility to universities located outside Ekurhuleni.
