Boksburg Lions Club needs more hands to help the needy

The Boksburg Lions Club has 10 members but needs double that amount to be able to serve the community effectively.

In a bid to attract more members, the club hosted a meet-and-greet in the Boksburg Library on Saturday, September 2, at 10am, where the community had the opportunity to learn more about the club.

According to the club president, Peter van der Merwe, this was the first time in a while the club tried to make themselves known to the public but they are planning on doing it more frequently in the future.

The Boksburg Lions Club is a community service organisation which meets every third Thursday of the month at the old Boksburg Town Hall.

“In today’s economic climate, there are many more people who require some form of assistance and we try to fill that gap,” said van der Merwe.

“But we need members to help fulfil the needs of the community, of which there are many.”
