The man reportedly broke into the family’s shack in Angelo informal settlement on Sunday night, July 2 apparently with the intention to rob or steal.
One of the family members woke up and realised they were in the company of an uninvited guest.
The family member grabbed a steel bar and smashed the intruder on the head, leaving him injured. After hitting the intruder, the family member heard a commotion outside and saw a group of people running away.
The police arrived and found the injured intruder and a gun on the floor next to the door.
The firearm was confiscated and the suspect taken to hospital where he received treatment under police guard.
It’s still unclear if the gun belongs to the intruder but investigations continue. -@FanieFLK
