Campaign addresses the marginalisation of women
The Ekurhuleni Central Cluster, consisting of Boksburg, Dawn Park and Reiger Park SAPS, participated in the ‘take a girl child to work’ campaign which took place at the Germiston SAPS Hall.
Each police station took 20 learners from two schools in their area.
The Dawn Park police station took learners from Villa Liza Secondary School and Windmill Park Secondary School.
The campaign, sponsored by Cell C, seeks to address the marginalisation of women, and to assist in closing the skills gap and under-representation of women in the formal employment sector.
The learners were empowered to be better versions of themselves, taught life skills and were given knowledge about different career paths one can venture into.
Different stakeholders such as the department of Education, Department of Social Development, Transnet, Liquor Board, Department of Correctional Services and the SAPS social crime coordinators made this day successful.
