Boksburg North SAPS celebrates two convictions

Hard work by Boksburg North SAPS detectives paid off in court during May.

The following sentences were heard:

• Asanda Bini (27) was found guilty on attempted murder and sentenced to six years imprisonment in the Boksburg Magistrate Court, on May 8.

According to the Boksburg North SAPS communication officer, Capt Juanita Coetzer, Boksburg North sector vehicle received a call of trespassing on April 28, 2016.

“Upon arrival, they found a suspect with the community and security official,” said Coetzer.

“They apprehended the suspect after he jumped into several yards to escape.

“The owner of the house found the suspect in his yard and the suspect attacked the owner with an axe. The owner’s wife assisted to wrestle the axe away from the syspect.

“The suspect fled the scene, leaving a blood trail.”

Det-WO Willem van Aswegen visited the scene and took the case from start to end.

It was found that the suspect was out on parole since April 4, 2016, thus, 24 days prior to this incident.

• During April 2016, Brown Mshubi Mkhonto (32) was arrested for possession of stolen property in Charl Cilliers Street, Boksburg North.

During the investigation, it was discovered that he was linked with several cases of housebreaking.

Det-WO Setumo investigated and the suspect appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate Court.

The suspect was found guilty on all cases and he was sentenced to seven years imprisonment, on May 5.
