Pet Care Corner: Will neutering turn your male pet into a sissy?
Many pet owners fear that neutering a male dog or cat will change their personality and make them into a less confident animal.

According to Maggie Mudd from the Boksburg SPCA, this is not true.
Neutering your male pet will make him better behaved as:
• He won’t run after females on heat and will be more content to remain inside his premises where he won’t get lost or run over.
• He will be less likely to fight with other males which will result in a healthier animal and a healthier bank balance, as you will not have the veterinarian fees.
Neutering your male pet can also get rid of bad habits such as urine marking – if a neutered animal continues to mark we would suggest having them checked by a veterinary for a possible bladder or urinary tract infection.
Best of all, neutering your male cat or dog will not cause him to become fat and lazy provided that you ensure he receives a balanced diet and sufficient exercise.
Experience shows that neutering not only won’t turn your cat or dog into a sissy, but will make them a happier and healthier pet.
