Sharpen up security warns SAPS to fuelling station owners

Fuelling station owners have to sharpen security at the garage.

According to the Boksburg North SAPS communications officer, Capt Juanita Coetzer, recently, a fuelling stations are being increasingly targeted by robbers.

“Some stations can secure their property by erecting palisades around their premises,” she said.

“More lights on the outside can be placed strategically to give more light at night. Also, security cameras can prevent unforeseen customers.”

Apparently, lots of fuelling stations do not use their drop boxes to put the cash in regularly.

“Another suggestion is to place security bars around the cash register area, because criminals are concentrating on taking the cash, cigarettes and cellphone vouchers,” Coetzer added.

All these security measures may save your employee’s life.

She calls on owners to assist the SAPS to help safeguard their assets.
