Blues suffer demoralizing 6-1 loss

The Boksburg Football Club suffered a humiliating 6-1 loss at the hands of Benoni Northerns at Northern Areas in an ELFA Super League encounter on Saturday, April 1.

Half-time score was 3-1 to the hosts.

The Blues, who came into the encounter on the back of a home win against Corinthians, were dealt a big blow early on when Northerns raced to a two-goal lead.

Blues skipper Mpho Masemola pulled one back to half the deficit before the home side restored the two-goal cushion leading up to the break.

There was little change in the script in the second stanza as Northerns netted three more times before the referee put the travelling side out of their misery.

The high-flying Benoni outfit’s sixth goal was their 23rd of the season.

“It was a total disaster,” lamented Blues coach Melvin Kruger.

“Northers played with a lot of intensity which was difficult to defend against. As the season progresses, we will be fitter and our organisational play will become more structured.

“As a team, we have to put that result behind us and focus on the next game.” – @SabeloBoksburg
