Masina said that by signing the MoU, they want to deal with issues of heritage conservation by implementing a number of strategic initiatives, both in Lusaka and here in South Africa.
“We also look forward to strategic sessions on knowledge sharing and cultural exchanges. Between the two countries there’s a rich history of political freedom which is anchored by the foundation that is the struggle stalwart OR Tambo,” said Masina.

The Zambian signature had been outstanding in the MoU, which was signed in 2008 with Alfred Nzo District Municipality and the City of Ekurhuleni.
Mayor Masina also handed over a copy of the letter written by OR Tambo while Tambo was in exile in Italy.
