Watch video: Moms prepare for the Miss Single Mom Pageant finale
It’s been an exciting journey for the 13 finalists in the Miss Single Mom Pageant, who can’t wait for the big day to arrive.
The event will take place at the Boksburg Civic Centre on March 25.
The hopeful finalists had a boot camp which offered energising fitness training and exciting team-based activities at the Gym Company, East Rand Mall on Saturday, February 25.
Victoria Andrews, who is the founder of the Miss Single Mom Pageant, said the main reason for the boot camp was to bring the girls together as a group.
“We wanted them to have fitness activities together and create a platform for them to connect and share their issues and get to know one another. We are building visionary mothers who are strong example setters and mothers who are able to help everybody out,” Andrews said.
The pageant aims at celebrating and assisting single mothers to further their education, while also bringing about awareness around teenage pregnancy, including the challenges and responsibilities of being a single mother.
The pageant also aims at establishing a better future for the single mothers and their children.
Proceeds of the pageant will benefit two charities – Foresight Centre (Boksburg) and Rose’s Children Home (Vosloorus).
