According to Constable Nkemeleng Mabula, from Dawn Park SAPS, the child disappeared on January 24 and was found the following week near a place called ZonkeZizwe.
Mabula confirmed the police found the headless body of the three-year-old.
She said the father of the child has been arrested and is charged with murder.
“The accused, in his twenties, was supposed to appear in court today, February 10, at the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court, but he did not turn up. The case has been postponed to February 14,” Mabula said.

According to the mother’s family, the body of the child was found in a bag, and an unidentified decomposed head was found nearby.
Forensics are still investigating whether the head belongs to the identified body.
The family described the deceased as a free-spirited, very clever child.
“She was a happy child who was very talkative. We are very sad as we did not expect what happened, as we are still shocked to this day. I hope the law will take its course and put the accused in jail,” the family said.
Tshako said she has been left heartbroken because she last saw her child on Saturday.
The community of Villa Liza, who have condemned the actions of the accused, were in court to support the family.
