Boksburg beauty with big dreams

She doesn’t want to follow her dreams but wants to chase them instead.

The Boksburg beauty, Cassey de Witt, is hungry for success and is not scared of her big dreams.

She lives by the motto, “Nothing is too difficult for the brave.”

The 18-year-old matriculant from Jeppe High School for Girls in Johannesburg has been in the modelling industry for over a year now and is enjoying every moment.

“Being in the modelling industry was not something I had always wanted to do but since being part of this industry I have learnt so many things and grown in so many ways,” she said.

Cassey said she is passionate about people, especially children because they are the future of this country.

She was recently crowned Miss Gauteng 2016, which she said was the biggest highlight of her modelling career.

“My reason for entering the Mr and Miss Gauteng competition was that I love doing charity work, so this competition was a great platform for me to show my skills and help out wherever I could.

“Knowing that all proceeds that would be raised at the pageant would be donated to a charity had me at ease because I knew it would have an impact on someone’s life,” she said.

While she was still in the running to become Miss Gauteng she scooped the title of Miss Debutant after raising the most funds towards St Laurence’s Children’s Haven.

One of the challenges Cassey faced during the competition was competing against the other 16 talented girls.

“I took my challenges as a stepping stone to help me win the competition. If I did not have challenges I don’t think I would have won, because what is a competition without competition? My modelling journey has also taught me to be tough and always be true to who I am,” Cassey said.

The Boksburg beauty aspires to be a role model to all young boys and girls.

She said she wants them to learn from her that anything is possible if they put their whole mind, heart and soul into it.

“My advice to young people would be that they should take their education seriously because it is the only key towards success as it opens up doors for people of all backgrounds. Also people should stay humble and thank God daily for every new day they have been given,” she said.

The teenager will be studying towards a BCom in Corporate Communications next year.
