Gunman opens fire on police officer; resident wounded
An Angelo informal settlement man and a Boksburg police officer survived a hail of bullets, when an unknown gunman opened fire on them near the Angelo Hotel, on Monday afternoon, November 28.

The man suffered multiple gunshot wounds and is recovering at an undisclosed location.
The officer was not hurt during the shoot-out that could have cost him his life.
According to the police report, the Boksburg police received notification on Monday about a shooting among BaSotho men, believed to be illegal miners.
A police van was immediately dispatched to the scene of the shooting.
One of the responding police officers was interviewing the injured man about the incident, when a gunman began spraying them with a hail of bullets.
The officer managed to grab the injured man and both took cover at the back of the police van.
The gunman, however, continued to shoot at the van, and the officer answered with fire.
The officer and his colleagues finally manage to take control of the situation.
The shooting took place in an inaccessible site for the ambulance, and the officer put the dying man in the back of the van and rushed him to hospital, where he is said to be in a stable condition.
The shootings are being investigated by the Boksburg police, but no one has been arrested in connection with either of the incidents.
Investigators are asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of those involved in both shootings to come forward. -@FanieFLK
