Suspects sought in bakery truck robbery, hijacking

Boksburg police are searching for a gang of thugs who held up a bakery truck and took the driver and his two assistants hostage during the early hours of November 21.

The victim told the police that he was driving along Comet when he heard something banging at the back of the truck.

He pulled off, and when he went to the back of the truck to check, the gang of thugs accosted him and pointed a gun at him.

The robbers then took the driver and his assistants’ cellphones, instructed them to jump into the back of the bakery van where they were held hostage for almost an hour while the truck was being driven to an unknown location.

The thugs eventually pulled off, switched off the engine and abandoned the truck with the victims still inside.

A few minutes later the victims forced open the door and jumped out of the truck.

They then noticed that the safe containing an undisclosed amount of money had been stolen.

No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
