A parade of pink to raise funds for Cansa
Every year, Harley-Davidson supports the fight against cancer and this year was no different.
This year’s event, Pink Noise Parade, was a national event with all Harley-Davidson dealerships participating in support of breast cancer.
The event took place at Gold Rand Harley-Davidson, on October 29.
The event included a mass ride, as well as various activities to keep the crowds amused and entertained.

Along with the ride, pink bandanas were sold and all the funds raised went to the Cancer Foundation.
This kind of event always falls on the shoulders of the dealerships, as well the associated Harley Owners Group (HOG) chapters.
As usual, the Gold Rand HOG chapter took this challenge by the horns and, seeing as most of them had never run such an event before, they felt just a little out of their depth.
Nevertheless, they rallied and organised a full 60km mass ride of 130 bikes.
The mass ride went off without a hitch thanks to the assistance of the Ekurhuleni Metro Police and Gold Rand HOG’s own team of qualified and dedicated marshals, led by their capable head road captain, Fred Smit.

All marshals went out of their way to dress up in pink and show support.
Wayne Simpson, assistant director HOG Gold Rand, had the pleasure of leading the parade, which moved through the East Rand.
Back at Gold Rand, the dealership looked like a pink balloon festival.
DJ Porra, who is also the workshop manager, ensured the day was filled with ‘lekker’ music.
Everybody was dressed in pink. There were men and women in pink dresses, stockings, make-up and skirts.

“Imagine this lot on Harleys riding down the highway – it was awesome to see,” said Simpson.
“When doing an event like this, your reward is giving support via time and money to
Cansa and seeing the guests having a good time,” said Simpson.
Simpson sends out a big thanks to all the individuals who took part, all the HOG members involved and a very special thanks to all the other clubs that joined them: Highway Cruisers, Free chapter and The Litas.
“Without your support this event would not have been a success,” he said.
