
The trio, two of whom were carrying firearms, broke a security gate and entered the house before waking the family members and tying them up with shoe laces.
One of the victims told the police that she heard some noise around 3am. She went to check and found the armed men inside the house.
The intruders tied the family with shoelaces and pistol-whipped one family member, a grandfather, before they made off with a TV set, laptop, cellphones and a firearm.
In another incident on August 16, thieves entered a property on Durand Road, in Sunward Park, and stole a TV set.
Meanwhile, on August 12, thieves forced their way into a house on Albrecht Road, Sunward Park, and stole a computer box worth about R4 000.
On the very same day, thugs also forced their way into another house on Albrecht Road, and stole electrical appliances worth about R80 000.
On August 13, three armed thugs held up the Engen petrol station on Commissioner Street, in the Boksburg CBD.
They reportedly threatened the owner and staff with firearms before they stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the tills.
