Real-life Transformer lands in Boksburg

A life-size Transformer robot will be on display at News Café in Boksburg this weekend (Friday to Sunday) where children and fans of these over-size sci-fi creatures can get up close with the heavyweight machine.

Weighing in at three tons, the 6m tall Transformer was fabricated from thick steel plating overseas, and was transported all the way to Boksburg on behalf of equipment supplier, Dura Equipment Sales for its Foton Lovol front-end-loader brand.

Since being displayed on the company’s premises near the OR Tambo Airport – alongside the N12 highway – it has quickly become a popular attraction and has led the company to take its mascot out to the public and let kids of all ages marvel at the awesomeness of this giant Transformer.

Ernest Human of Dura Equipment Sales said that while the robot means different things to different people, it is actually intended to depict the company’s strength in the earth-moving equipment supply industry and stands for the company’s motto of being robust, reliable and supported anywhere in South Africa.

“Who wouldn’t like to have their ethics defended by a giant robot like ours,” said Human.
