SPCA charges R10 for rabies vaccine due to huge turnout

The Boksburg SPCA have had no choice but to charge a R10 fee per animal for a vaccination against rabies.

This is due to the extremely high volume of owners taking their animals to the SPCA for vaccines.

The cost will be cover the needles being used.

The SPCA said they are currently running quite low on the vaccine but more bottles have been ordered.

“We wish to thank pet owners for bringing animals in to be vaccinated and for taking this matter seriously,” wrote the SPCA on its Facebook page.

“Rabies is one of the worst zoonotic diseases around and all warm blooded animals (including human’s) can become infected.

“We thank you for your understanding in this matter.”
