Metro to celebrate Youth Day with style

In commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Soweto Uprising, the City of Ekurhuleni in partnership with Sibikwa Arts Centre will bring the OR Tambo Precinct alive with music, drama, dance and poetry on Thursday, June 16.

The day promises to be an experience, featuring a fun family picnic setup.

Activities of the day including drumming circles, storytelling sessions and many other exciting art experiences for children and parents.

Entrance is free and strictly no alcohol is allowed in the venue.

Mayor Mondli Gungubele will also host the Youth Excellent Awards at Germiston Civic Centre on Saturday June 18th, to recognise youth excellence and activism in social development, sports, business and life skills.

For more fun and festivities, over 10 000 young people are expected to attend the 40th Youth Uprising Music Festival on June 25 at Germiston Lake Park.

To conclude the Youth Month activities, youth in business will meet at the Change Bible Church in Katlehong, on June 28 and 29, for a business expo to share best business practices.
