On Sunday, June 5 at around 7am, the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit with the assistance of the EMPD K9 Unit arrested three suspects in Boksburg North on charges of possession and dealing in cocaine and cat.
EMPD spokesperson Lieut-Col Wilfred Kgasago said the information obtained from surveillance conducted on the suspects’ place of abode bore fruit when the metro police confronted them and found cat and cocaine valued at R4 000 in their possession.
In addition, said Kgasago, cash amounting to R5 000, suspected to be proceeds from the drug dealing, was also confiscated.
The three Nigerian nationals, aged 23, 34 and 36, were charged at Boksburg North police station and are expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
The EMPD nabbed another drug dealer on Saturday, June 4, following a week of monitoring and gathering of information on the suspect.
Kgasago said the EMPD Drug Enforcement pounced on the suspect on Saturday, after he was witnessed in some sort of a deal in Graaf Street around 6.30pm.
Kgasago said the 35-year-old suspect was approached just after what looked like a conclusion of a deal.
He ran away when approached but the officers chased him on foot until the man reached his flat where he locked himself inside.
“It then necessitated a forceful entry and once in his room, the officers found cat, cocaine and heroin with an estimated street value of R15 000,” said Kgasago.
Charges of possession and dealing in illicit substances were laid against the Nigerian national at Boksburg North police station and he is expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
