Rotary golf day scores a hole in one

Two Rotary clubs, Boksburg and Boksburg Lake, combined their efforts and presented a golf day recently for the benefit of needy children in Boksburg.

The day was made even more special when during play it became known that every golfer’s wish had come true when a much hoped for hole in one was achieved by Marco Adamo.

This is an achievement which is not only difficult beyond anything but also much admired in golf circles.

The achievement also had a memorable spin-off that dates back eight years. At the time then district governor Trevor Nienaber promised a donation of R500 for a hole in one, but it was never achieved and was forgotten.

When Adamo celebrated his hole in one, the promise was remembered, which resulted in Trevor being contacted who confirmed his promise. Joy then followed as the funds from the golf day were increased by R500 because of the golfing achievement.
