Hospice presents an exciting adventure road trip
Hospice East Rand will be hosting an adventurous road trip on June 12 to raise funds.
This year’s adventure will have a historical theme and participants of the trip will follow in the footsteps of Sir George Farrar, founder, among others, of ERPM Gold Mine.
The adventure will take on the form of four participants per vehicle that will complete a road trip in three East Rand towns to find 15 clues at historical sites.
“We aim to give each participant a goodie bag on departure, which will contain sponsored items, snacks for the day, a road trip map and a clue book to complete the adventure,” said Laura Kirsten.
Participants will follow clues in Benoni, Boksburg and Bedfordview, with entry costs being R500 per vehicle.
“Due to the fact that Hospice East Rand does not receive any government funding or support, we are required to raise our own funds by organising various events and functions in order to reach our necessary targets each year.
“Our aim with this event is also to bring awareness to the towns on the East Rand where Hospice
East Rand is actively caring for patients with life-limiting diseases. Our area of service covers Benoni, Boksburg, Kempton Park, Germiston, Edenvale, Bedfordview, Brakpan, Springs, Nigel, Vosloorus and Daveyton.
“Our head office is in Benoni and this is also where our in-patient unit and frail care is situated, but our home-based care nursing sisters are active in the whole area.
“Our clinic in Voloorus runs a health clinic twice a week, caring for patients and their families. Schoolchildren also attend our school holiday programmes at this facility.”
