Tip-off leads to arrest of Cat dealer

The EMPD SWAT Unit members acted upon information received from a member of public about a person suspected of selling drugs in Vosloorus.

The suspect was arrested when several ziplocks of the drug cat were found in his room on Friday, May 13 at around 2.30pm.

EMPD spokesperson Wilfred Khasago said members of the EMPD SWAT Unit raided the place as per the information received and found a person who claimed to be the brother of the person the metro police were looking for.

Kgasago said the man led the metro police to the house opposite where the wanted suspect was located.

“The person fitting the description of the drug peddler led the metro police to his outside room where 34 ziplocks of cat were found stashed in a small case.”

The 28-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with possession and suspected dealing in illicit substances at Vosloorus Police Station. He is expected to appear in the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court soon.
