Two months in prison for stealing five roll-on deodorant bottles

Lucky Mphahlele (25), of Vosloorus, was convicted of theft on April 5 in the Boksburg Magistrates Court after he stole five roll-on deodorant bottles from Boxer Store.

The accused pleaded guilty and was found guilty as charged.

He was sentenced to two months in prison or a fine of R1 000, which was wholly suspended for five years.

Magistrate Hans Havenga presided and prosecutor Themba Maluleke represented the state.

* In other court sentencing cases, Luambu Nemusunda (30), of Meadowlands, in Soweto, was convicted of possession of suspected stolen property on April 7.

The accused was found in possession of a stolen Toyota Tazz on December 14, 2014.

He pleaded guilty and was found guilty as charged and sentenced to six years in prison.

Magistrate Colbert Ramufhufhi presided and prosecutor Takalani Kumundhu represented the state.

Nkululeko Vincent Mnisi (22), of the Ramaphosa informal settlement, was convicted of rape on February 16.

The accused pleaded not guilty of raping a mentally disabled woman on September 15, 2012.

However, the court found him guilty and sentenced him to 20 years in jail.

Magistrate Abel Shilubane presided and prosecutor Maria Olivier represented the state.
