Boksburg resident awarded ‘Best Selfie’ at the races
Local resident Darren Zabielski's selfie with partner Dess-Ray Duxbury, taken at Turffontein on Saturday, April 2, won him a five-night cruise for himself and a partner.
The selfie challenge was offered to add to the excitement at the race.
Zabielski said, “It was myself and my fiancé with a horse behind us with the jockey Callan Murray actually photo bombing us without us knowing.”
The second leg of the Triple Crown, the Gr 1 SA Classic, took place on Saturday at Turffontein and coincided with the hosting of the Grand White event, an open invitation picnic in which more than 4 500 guests arrived dressed all in white, with the venue only being revealed on the morning of the event.
The dress code for Saturday’s racing fans was to dress in classic white, culminating in a striking and elegant day at the races.
