Community help nab cash thief

The following crimes have been reported to the Boksburg North SAPS the past week.

Theft of cash

On March 31, around 1.55pm, the complainant was walking along Cason Road when suddenly the suspect grabbed his cash and ran away.

According to the Boksburg North SAPS communication officer, Lieut Juanita Coetzer, witnesses saw what had happened and caught the suspect.

Boksburg North SAPS members arrested the suspect and searched him.

They found him to be in possession of the cash from the complainant.

Possession of unlicensed firearm

Boksburg North SAPS Crime Prevention patrolled around the Engen Garage, Pretoria Road, Hughes, when they saw a suspicious-looking male, on April 2, at about 1.15pm.

They searched the male and found a firearm in his possession.

“The man could not produce a license for the firearm,” said Coetzer.

He was arrested and the firearm confiscated.

Police are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of suspects who fired several shots at two victims, on January 26, in North Rand Road.

One victim, Ziyaad Ali Mohammed (30), was fatally wounded and the other victim was taken to hospital.

The suspects drove a black Subaru with yellow mag wheels.
