Family’s Easter weekend spoiled as thieves plunder R176 000 worth of goods
The following cases were reported to the Boksburg SAPS over the Easter weekend:

Murder
* An Angelo informal settlement foreign shop owner died after being shot multiple times in his spaza shop, in the settlement, on the night of Good Friday (March 25).
According to a police report, a gunman arrived at the shop and opened fire on the victim, who has been identified as Tasfaye Tasama.
The man suffered two gunshot wounds to his chest, another two to his left arm and one in his back.
The profusely bleeding man was rushed to Tambo Memorial Hospital, but died a few moments later.
The killer is still at large and police have registered a case of murder.
The motive for the killing is still unclear.
* In another killing, police found the half-naked body of an unknown male at the side of the road, near the corner of Cason and Campbell roads, on Saturday, March 26.
His body was covered in blood and police believe that he was hit with the wooden stick which was found next to the body.
No arrests have been made so far, but police are investigating the matter.
Accident
* An unknown man, described only as ”a white man”, died when he was struck by a passenger train near the Boksburg East Railway Station.
The man was fatally injured crossing the tracks near the station, during the Easter weekend. Trains to and from Springs were badly disrupted following the incident in Boksburg.
Police are investigating the tragedy.
Attempted murder
Meanwhile police arrested two Mozambicans after they allegedly assaulted another man in Angelo informal settlement, on Easter Monday (March 28).
The men allegedly repeatedly hit the victim with a spade. Someone noticed the attackers assaulting the man and called the police.
The injured man was rushed to Tambo Memorial Hospital in a very serious condition.
Police charged the pair with attempted murder, and were due to appear in court this week.
House break-in
Thieves spoiled a Freeway Park family’s Easter vacation, after they (the thieves) forced their way into the family’s home and stole goods worth about R176 000.
According to a police report, the victims left their home on March 24, and travelled to Bloemfontein.
The following day, while still on vacation, the complainant received a phone call informing him of the break-in.
They headed back home and discovered that thugs ransacked their house.
The stolen goods included a plasma TV set, a laptop, PS3, CDs, a wedding ring and other valuable.
* Meanwhile on March 25 thieves forced their way into a Parkrand home and stole goods worth about R37 000.
The family members were also away on holiday when thugs targeted their home, stealing a plasma TV set, a laptop and other valuable electrical appliances.
Theft of motor vehicle
Thieves stole a man’s Hyundai H100 Bakkie worth about R100 000, on Friday night, March 25.
The van was parked outside a complex along Leeuwpoort Street, Boksburg CBD.
