The event also served as a welcoming party for the newly appointed commander, Lieut Col Elsie Mashinini.
The colourful and joyous gathering, organised by Mathebula’s former colleagues, the Reiger Park CPF, pastors, friends and other community leaders, was held at the Reiger Park Victory Tabernacle Church on Friday night, February19.
Mathebula was, earlier this month, transferred to Boksburg North, where he works as the Vispol head.
The event was described as an ideal occasion to celebrate all the hard work Mathebula delivered in the area during his time with the Reiger Park SAPS.
Attendees thanked him for all his help in uniting the various communities of Reiger Park, and wished him the best of luck.
Mathebula, in turn, thanked residents, community leaders and his former colleagues for the respect they have shown him.
He added that the working relationship he had with the community encouraged him to give his best in resolving issues that were affecting the area.
