St Francis tea party raises money for worthy cause

St Francis Care Centre held a Charity Ladies’ Tea, to raise funds for the centre.

The tea party, attended by more than 185 people, was held on Saturday, February 13, in the St Dominic’s Parish Hall, on Trichardts Road, in the Boksbug CBD.

The fund-raiser managed to realise R25 000, and the event also served as the celebration of this year’s Valentine’s Day.

According to St Francis Care Centre manager Tilly Brouwer, the funds will go toward creating a better future for the scores of needy children currently residing at the centre.

The event featured guest speaker Pam van Niekerk and a live performance by a band consisting of James Schultz, Lee Ngcwabe and Simon Warner.

Crystal du Preez, from Sensational Suga, donated a cake which was sold, raising R1 700 for St Francis.

Brouwer expressed her gratitude to all the people who supported the good cause, adding that such fund-raising campaigns help to keep the doors of the centre open. -@FanieFLK
