Support Lady Gracious Teen with her Handbag Project

The winner of Lady Gracious SA Teen 2015/16, Suné Myburgh is urging East Rand residents to support the Handbag Project.

This project collects second-hand handbags which are then filled with a facecloth, soap, small perfume or deodorant, a sweet treat and a note of encouragement.

These bags are then handed to victims of rape and molestation, particularly women and children.

Suné hopes that big companies will get involved in this project, which will help her fulfil part of her mission for 2016.

“I am appealing to companies that manufacture the goodies that are placed in the bag to sponsor it for the project,” she said.

“Otherwise, I’m hoping to get monetary sponsors, which will help me with the funds to buy the goodies.”

Her plan, also, is collecting handbags from shopping centres in different towns around the country and to get big companies’ staff involved to bring handbags on a specific day and then collect from them.

Catch Suné at the following shopping centers in Boksburg:

February 27, at 9am: Kia Motors East Rand

March 5, at 9am to 12.30pm: El Ridge Shopping centre

March 12, at 9am to 12.30pm: Sunward Park Spar
