Reiger Park Secondary School makes history

Reiger Park Secondary School has added its name into the history books by producing one of the country's brightest learners.

The school has achieved a 92.9 per cent pass rate, obtaining a total of 35 distinctions in the process.

Thirty-eight per cent of the school’s matriculants have qualified to study for bachelor degrees at university.

Among those with distinctions, is top achiever in physical science, Ernest Molelle, who came first in Gauteng and third nationally.

Molelle also obtained eight distinctions in physical science, English home language, Afrikaans first additional language, mathematics, life orientation, economics, geography and life sciences.

Zunaid Beukes obtained four distinctions in Afrikaans first additional language, mathematics, life sciences and life orientation.

School principal, Gregory Fish, was delighted, especially with Molelle’s achievements.

“It’s a privilege to have someone who has achieved so much – I think it’s the first time in Reiger Park that we have someone who has achieved straight As in eight subjects and went on to be honoured by the province.

“It demonstrates that we have rough diamonds here and with guidance, they can reach their ultimate potential,” said Fish.

Fish said he was privileged to be a leader and part of history and urged the community to contribute to the development of children.
