Nine injured in accident on Atlas and Elizabeth roads
Nine people were injured in a collision between a bakkie and a car on the corner of Atlas and Elizabeth roads in Boksburg on Friday night, January 1.

ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak said paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after 9pm and found people scattered across the intersection.
“It is understood that eight people were in the bakkie and three people were in the car at the time of the collision.
“The majority of the people that were sitting in the back of the bakkie were ejected during the collision,” he said.
“Three people from the car were treated for moderate injuries on the scene before they were transported to hospital.
” Six people from the bakkie were treated for various injuries. The front passenger of the bakkie had to be freed from the wreckage by the local fire department.
“Three people from the bakkie were assessed on scene, but later declined to be transported to hospital. The cause of the collision was not yet known,” Vermaak said.
