A 75-year-old man was found dead under a blanket in his house in Goldband Street, Lillianton, yesterday (November 19), around 4pm.

According to the Boksburg North SAPS communication officer, Lieut Juanita Coetzer, the police received information from 10111 about an abandoned vehicle in Delmore Gardens.

“Upon investigation, the owner of the vehicle proved to be of a resident living in Goldband Street,” she said.

Boksburg North members visited the specific address to confirm whether the owner of the vehicle still resides there.

On arrival they found the garage door open. When the members entered the house they became suspicious.

“They heard someone shouting for help and started searching the house,” said Coetzer.

“The found an elderly couple in one room, tied up with cable ties, and covered with a blanket. The police untied the woman, who was still alive.

“The medics were summoned to the scene, however, upon arrival the elderly male was declared deceased.

“Even though he had wounds to his head, circumstances surrounding his death are unknown.”

The woman was uninjured, but was left severely traumatised.
