No serious hailstorm damage in Boksburg

No serious damage due to the hailstorm were reported in Boksburg yesterday, November 16.

This is according to Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) spokesperson Kobedi Mokheseng and media liaison officer for Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (EMS) William Ntladi.

Mokheseng said they attended mostly to traffic related issues in Boksburg between 4pm and 5pm, with only minor bumper bashing accidents being reported due to the extreme weather.

“Luckily there were no casualties or fatalities.”

Mokheseng said the weather did cause damage to a number of roof structures, such as a building located on the corner of Trichards and North Rand roads.

“Apart from the roof structures, we are also aware of a number of trees that had fallen over, such as in Parkrand and Vosloorus.”

Regarding the flooding under the Trichards Bridge, he said the EMPD did monitor the situation and did direct traffic.

“In general everything was under control in Boksburg following the hailstorm.”

Nladi said they are only aware of roofs of homes in Vosloorus being damaged.
