Sunward Park resident endures torment at the hands of armed robbers

Boksburg SAPS crime briefs:

Boksburg police are hunting two armed robbers who struck at a petrol station in the Boksburg CBD on Tuesday evening, October 20.

The pair made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes after holding up staff at gunpoint.

After they emptied the cash register, both thugs walked out of the store and fled the scene.

* A Sunward Park woman had to endure minutes of torment at the hands of two armed robbers, who broke into her house and stole goods worth about 18 000, on October 17.

The intruders found the woman watching TV alone, when they forced their way into the house.

They threatened the terrified woman with a firearm, before stealing two TV sets, jewellery and cash from the house.

* In another Sunward Park robbery, two robbers, described as ”African males” forced their way into a house on Jaguar Street, and robbed the occupant of the house, a woman, of R81 000 worth of valuable goods at knifepoint, on October 17.

The uninvited guests stole a TV set, cash, jewellery and a cellphone.

* Meanwhile, in Parkrand, thugs stormed a business on Van Wyk Louw Drive and made off with R80 000 in cash, after holding up a staff member at gunpoint.

No arrests have been made so far, and police are still investigating.

* On October 18, police were called to the scene of a murder, after a man going by the name of Coper Ramphoreng was stabbed to death during a drunken fight inside a tavern in the Angelo informal settlement.

It was also reported that shots were also fired during the fight and a bullet hit one of the patrons, a woman, who was then rushed to hospital for treatment.

Police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder.

* In another violent crime in Angelo informal settlement, a man was rushed to hospital for treatment after he was shot in the chest on October 17.

The motive for the shooting is still unclear, but police are investigating a case of attempted murder.

* Police are also investigating a culpable homicide case, following the death of a man who was hit by a car on Leeuwpoort Street, in the Boksburg CBD, on October 19. -@fanieFLK
