EMPD spokesperson Wilfred Kgasaso said 16 people were apprehended and will be appearing in court in due course to face charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.
“Five were arrested in Katlehong and four in Tembisa while Vosloorus, Brackendowns and Brakpan yielded two each with one nabbed in Springs,” said Kgasaso.
He said cases of driving under the influence of alcohol were registered at the respective police stations against the offenders who were and subsequently released after posting bail.
They will be appearing in court as soon as the blood samples are processed and results finalised.
