The incident occurred on Barry Marais Road in Dawn Park
According to Dawn Park police spokesperson, Capt Charles Tshabalala, the man was declared dead on scene.
“The driver of the vehicle ran over the man and fled the scene, but then decided to leave to abandon the vehicle not far from where the hit and run took place,” said Tshabalala.
