AfriForum willing to carry legal costs in aid of Afrikaans schools
Quality and mother-tongue education are of high importance to the civil rights organisation Afriforum.

Carien Bloem, Afriforum campaign coordinator for education and training, said the organisation will contribute to the legal costs of the urgent court application by the Federation of Governing Bodies of SA Schools (FEDSAS), against the altered school registration process.
At the same time, Afriforum intends to support Afrikaans single-medium schools that might be changed to parallel-medium institutions.
“AfriForum and FEDSAS feel that schools must have control over their own registration and language policies,” said Bloem.
“Parents should have the right to choose schools for their children based on their language preference.”
