Zimbabwean man stabbed in neck in Windmill Park

A 19-year-old Zimbabwean man was stabbed by a South African citizen on Friday night, May 1, in Windmill Park.

He is now fighting for his life in hospital.

Dawn Park police spokesperson Capt Charles Tshabalala said the incident took place near a tavern, in Windmill Park.

“It is too early to say if the stabbing was motivated by the recent xenophobic attacks, but a case of attempted murder will be opened,” he added.

The man, who was stabbed in the neck, was found by a local community member and rushed to hospital.

According to the victim’s sister, who wishes to stay anonymous, she heard on Friday that her younger brother had been stabbed and left in the middle of nowhere.

“We don’t know what really happened and how the fight started, we are just waiting for him to recover in hospital, then we will get the full story,” she said.

”Right now, I am very sad; why would they want to hurt my brother?”
