Are you raising a little chef?
Hirsch’s and Defy have joined hands to launch the first of what they hope will be many Junior Super Chef competitions.

Children from the ages of eight to 13 are invited to enter.
The competition starts in May and runs through to July, when the finals will be held.
Commenting on the reason for Hirsch’s involvement, CEO of the group, Allan Hirsch, said: “We have noticed a lot of interest from children with regard to the cooking appliances that we stock.
”This has made us realise that there is an opportunity for Hirsch’s to assist with the encouragement of young chefs.”
Young chefs will have an opportunity to cook with recently launched products, in front of an audience.
“We really believe it’s a great opportunity to encourage children to learn to use appliances correctly from a young age, as well as assisting in the kitchen, and we’ve been excited about the response we have had so far,” said Allan.
Prizes include appliances and products from Defy, products from the Jamie Oliver Range and Hirsch’s gift vouchers.
Details of the competition can be obtained from Brigitte Thysse, at brigitte@hirschs.co.za.
* Hirsch’s will be drawing 10 finalists and the cook-off will take place on June 22, at Hirsch’s Boksburg.
The children do not need to be expert cooks. This is a junior competition, so the kids should have just a general idea of how to cook.
On the night of the cook-off the contestants will receive a mystery box (like you see on Masterchef) of ingredients with which they will have to cook. – @IschkeBoksburg
