DA spokesperson for Corporate and Shared Services, Chris Swanepoel, said residents across the board are frustrated and angry by the uncaring and dismissive treatment they experience when they try to complain.
“How the metro feels it can get away with this level of inadequate service to the people of Ekurhuleni is nothing less than mind-boggling,” said Swanepoel.
“People literally sit without basic services for weeks, because they cannot get through to the relevant officials when logging a complaint.
“The mayor did say a lot of nice things during his State of the City Address but, to be honest, the city is in a terrible state.
“The speech he delivered this year is no different from last year, except that he mentioned refurnishing some old buildings and other structures.
“The Boksburg CBD, as well as other squatter camps around Ekurhuleni, need an upgrade; service delivery needs to be prioritised.”
