DA plays its part to clean up Boksburg Lake

Members of the DA in Ward 32 recently cleaned up the Boksburg Lake.

Local DA ward councillors, including Ashley Rutherford (Ward 92) and Johan Hendricks (Ward 32), as well as the DA’s MPL Janet Sample also got dirty and helped pick up trash from the shore and the park.

Semple has called on lake visitors to also do their part by keeping the lake free of rubbish.

She encouraged visitors to put their trash in the bins provided, rather than discarding it on the ground and in the lake.

The metro has recently spent more than R5-m to revamp parts of the lake, including the boathouse and the children’s play area.

Semple, however, stated that more needs to be done to bring the lake back to its former glory.

To date, the body of water is still polluted and shows high levels of toxicity.
