Anderbolt accident leaves eight people injured

Eight people were injured when two cars collided on the corner of Paul Smith Street and Steventon Road in Anderbolt, this morning.

EMER-G-MED spokesperson Danielle Dooley said that injuries were in the form of lacerations to the face while one person sustained a concussion.

She said that seven patients, who were in the trailer pulled by a green bakkie, were transported to Sunshine Hospital by EMER-G-MED.

“The driver of the vehicle towing the trailer was transported to Tambo Memorial Hospital by provincial ambulances,” said Dooley.

The other driver refused ambulance transportation to hospital.

It is alleged that the brakes of the green bakkie failed as it was travelling down Paul Smith – the other car was on Steventon Road and T-boned the bakkie as it traveled through the intersection.

Local authorities are investigating.
